My friend started a writing group.

I'm grateful to have even the small writerly community (pretentious!) that I do in this group. After switching majors, it is still new to me, and I feel unqualified and fresh and shy. But I remind myself that it is necessary to share and be taught...and I really do enjoy it. Last night I was filled and inspired by new poetry and course recommendations and talking about literature. It is comforting to feel as though English is the right major for me. And last night itself was the onset of a soft winter...frost was everywhere. Sadly, this cold makes a swearer out of me and when the nights get bitter like this I find myself cursing my way down the Hill to main campus. So huddling up in a  drafty Gloucester house by the water and drinking Oregon Chai lattes was perfect. There are many things I love about this place. In the group I shared an East of Eden passage and was taken back to the time I read it in Costa Rica, and how the book moved me. Looking forward to reading many more works with this group that compel me in the same way.
A shared quote:
"I've seen you, beauty, and you belong to me now, whoever you are waiting for and if I never see you again, I thought. You belong to me and all Paris belongs to me and I belong to this notebook and this pencil." Hemingway, A Moveable Feast
