I experienced two firsts this week.
1. Star-tipping. This is apparently an East Coast activity that most of my friends played in high school on those nights when the stars were visible and it wasn't completely frigid outside. (Kind of reminds me of ice-blocking...but whenever I mention sliding around golf courses on oversized ice cubes around here I am ridiculed for a good minute or two. Because, really, who needs ice-blocking when you can just go sledding?) So on Saturday night, after getting back from a friend's apartment and we decided to bundle up and head out to a deserted part of campus to star-tip. We threw our heads back and picked a star and then spun around and around in the middle of the quad. Arms out, feet tripping over themselves, star-tipping. If you spin long enough with your eyes focused on one star, everything starts tilting. All it takes is one person to shine the flashlight in your eyes and you hit the ground. No kidding. Just like that. I can't really explain why this is so hysterical...all I can say to those of you who haven't yet is TRY IT.
2. The Tim Tam Slam. This little nugget of excitement took place at our suite game night with friends Tom and Dan, who kindly brought over coffee, tea, Bananagrams and Tim Tams. I had been hearing about these mythical Australian cookies (biscuits? chocolate wafers?) for some time now, and the Tim Tam Slam did not disappoint. After raving about star-tipping though, it's just going to sound stupid if I try to explain it. Google "tim tam slam" if you are interested and/or in the mood for an lol from the images that pop up. It's an essential element to any good game night.
We keep ourselves entertained over here, friends.
You are hilarious. We went star-tripping (I guess you drop the "r" as you cross the continent..?) for initiation and it was so weird. I'm glad you're having fun, please post more fun things that you do, I love hearing about it!
ReplyDeleteWe're doing the first one when I'm in B-O-S-T-O-N.
