the list.

When anticipating winter break, nearly everyone I talked to said they were looking forward to (recreational) reading during the slow days off. My friend Nina had the excellent idea to start a group email sharing book recommendations and what's next on our list.

This is my list of recommended readings and books I really should get around to, soon. Maybe if I got off the laptop...? Here's to hoping your break is full of long mornings with good books. xx

Some favorites:

- Culture Making Andy Crouch
- Peace Like a River Leif Enger
- The Writing Life Annie Dillard
- Love in the Time of Cholera Gabriel Garcia Marquez
- The Poisonwood Bible Barbara Kingsolver
- East of Eden John Steinbeck
- Bird by Bird Anne Lamott
- A Moveable Feast Ernest Hemingway
- The Rest of God Mark Buchanan (I'm reading this now, and it's seriously causing me to change my ways and my mindset regarding Sabbath rest and everyday perceptive gratitude.)
- Anything and everything written by Donald Miller

Getting around to...

- In the Time of the Butterflies Julia Alvarez
- Omnivore's Dilemma Michael Pollan
- Prodigal God Timothy Keller
- Born to Run Christopher McDougall
- The Virgin Suicides Jeffrey Eugenides
- The Art of the Commonplace Wendell Berry
