[about food]

Recently I've decided that I should look into food writing as a vocational calling (and I'm only slightly kidding about that). Taste testing all kinds of meals? And then writing about it? Yes. Yes yes. Clearly a calling.

This brilliant idea (I meaannn - it's completely realistic) has stemmed from my newfound urge to cook. Which may or may not have something to do with living in a dorm...and eating in Lane...everysingleday. (And also maybe with the fact that we are confined to the nasty communal kitchen downstairs - no offense basement boys.) This is currently a favorite conversation topic among my roommates and friends: what we would be cooking IF we had a kitchen to use, what we will bake when we get an apartment next semester, how many times a week it will be acceptable to grocery shop and when to hit up the Boston Farmers Market. Last weekend, Molly cooked pierogies for us in an attempt to assimilate everyone into Pennsylvanian culture. They were delish and I will never doubt again. All this just made us even more excited for the blessed apartment kitchen that will (please please) be ours in the fall.

But until then, we'll keep traipsing down to the Fulton kitchen to whip up some classy muffins-from-the-box creations. And I will be using this summer to take full advantage of a home kitchen. AND to take advantage of the new farm-shares store that just opened in Santa Barbara: Plow to Porch Organics (also known as the place where I applied for a job and never heard back from, but look at me still giving them free publicity). Will be visiting often during the summer months.
