[the student]

I started the semester in major sophomore-slump mode. This was a novelty, as I'm usually the overeager student who immediately falls in love with each class...though this enthusiasm can wane quickly. Actually, by mid to late semester this enthusiasm has usually waned completely, and I begin the task of reminding myself of why I really do love learning, and and what I really love learning about.

This semester is different. I started out on the wrong foot (maybe the excessive snow days were to blame) but recently have been so affirmed in my direction of study. It feels like the greatest gift to be here, taking the classes I am, with these professors who will advocate for me and instill in their students a very real appreciation for their subjects. And so now as the semester is drawing to a close quicker than any of us can handle, I am getting myself hyped up on writing, speaking spanish, and reading poetry for homework. It is the BEST, I tell you.
